This page was created for a class I am taking via distance learning.
That in it's self is not an easy task. When you become a distance learner, you must be able to
work totally unsupervised. It is important to remember that you are the classroom
and the instructor, as you are not inside a normal classroom environment
Some people might think that learning on the computer would be so easy. It is not as easy as you might think. For one thing, when you have a question or a problem, you can't just raise your hand and get an immediate answer. You must post a question on a discussion board, or email other students. You can also email your instructor, which is usually the fastest way to get an answer. But still it can take a day to get a response, if your instructor or the other students aren't on the computer the day you ask your question.
As you can see, distance learning isn't for everyone. But if you are dedicated to learning or obtaining your goals, you can succeed. You must remember to work on your studies every day even if it is just a couple of hours. This way you have a less chance of getting behind. If you get behind, you will have to work three times as hard to catch up.
Some of the advantages of distance learning include, being at home if your children need you (if they get sick you don't miss class), not dealing with traffic or paying for gas, and being able to attend school when it is convenient for you. Not everyone has the time, gas, or ability to attend classes on a campus. With distance learning, everyone has the chance to learn without ever leaving his or her home.
I hope you get the chance to go back to school as I did, whether or not you attend on campus or in your "home" campus. With distance learning everyone can attend school and continue to learn.
